The strength of Dangerous Ishq lies is its attention-grabbing plot, which the Indian masses can relate to instantaneously. With Vikram Bhatt at the helm of affairs, who specializes in narrating taut thrillers, you can be assured of a riveting plot with several heart-in-the-mouth moments. But, alas, it's the screenplay that throws a spanner, with the over-stretched second hour and a formulaic conclusion ruining what Vikram had meticulously put together in the first half. Dangerous Ishq is no patch on Vikram Bhatt's earlier achievements. This fantasy-driven film is an epic disappointment!
Ishaqzaade a volatile and intense story with ample doses of fanatical romance, should appeal to a pan-India audience. This broadly engaging love story has a winsome pair who deliver dexterous performances, besides popular music and several poignant moments, which should appeal to fans of mainstream films. Go for it!
Housefull 2 is a madcap entertainer that gets the viewer giggling, yelling, whistling and applauding in his seat and you completely savor the fact that the spectators parked around you too are utterly engaged in the chaos and seeking maximum pleasure from the on-screen happenings. If you are a moviegoer who derives pleasure from loud comedies with over-the-top humor that defy logic at every opportunity, I am sure, you will relish this wacky slapstick. If your idea of watching a comedy is to have a good time at the movies, then Housefull 2 is especially designed for you.
Agent Vinod is a hi-octane espionage thriller with a heart. It is not just brawny and dynamic, but witty and crazy too. Ultra slick and stylish, this desi Bond movie adheres to the formula and succeeds in meeting the humungous expectations. AGENT VINOD has all the potential to develop into a triumphant franchise!
Jodi Breakers has an engrossing and smartly executed second half that tilts scales in its favor. The right dose of drama and romance, besides a trendy, harmonious musical score, only act as toppings.
Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya is refreshing and succeeds in its endeavor of amusing and entertaining, more particularly in its second hour. In addition, the sparkling performances by Riteish and Genelia is the mainstay of the film.
Menon does handle certain dramatic and emotional moments with aplomb, but the written material lets him down. Barring a few moments that stand out, the twists and turns in the plot are repetitive and devoid of exhilaration. Prateik is natural to the core. But Ek Deewana Tha has a few sparkling moments, that's about it. However, it lacks the fizz for the spectator to go deewana!
Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu is a slick, breezy and pleasant fare that should click with its target audience -- the youth -- and also has the potential to woo the older spectators as well. This take on love is refined, smart, lively and thoroughly pleasing thanks to its characters, conversations and the inherent humor. A perfect date movie. A film stuffed with exquisite moments that are sure to bring a wide smile on your face. Simply put, you cannot afford to miss Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. Just go for it!
Gali Gali Chor Hai amuses intermittently. Fortunately, the movie goes public at a juncture when anti-corruption appears to be the essence of the season. But the film could've done with a far more hard-hitting conclusion!
Agneepath is an uncomplicated story of revenge, is hard-hitting yet entertaining, dwells on strong emotions and aggressive and forceful action, yet is dissimilar from the original. Debutant director Karan Malhotra sponges from the original, but bestows the new version with a fresh texture. Agneepath is a fitting tribute to the masterwork. The movie has all the potential to scale dizzy heights of victory and catapult Hrithik Roshan as the newest member of the 100 cr Club, besides providing the Hindi film industry with the first giant Blockbuster of 2012. A definite winner!
Players rides mainly on the clout of its credible director duo [Abbas-Mustan], daredevil stunts and stunning visuals. But, most importantly, it is deficient of a captivating screenplay. Also, the film could have done with judicious trimming for an enhanced impact. I for one went in with colossal expectations, but came out feeling downcast and disheartened.
Don 2 rides on star power and brand value. The film has a bland first hour, but the second half takes the film to another level. There's no denying that a cohesive script would've made a world of a difference to the film, but the tremendous hype, star power and the lucrative period [Christmas and New Year celebrations] will make its investors reap a harvest.
Pappu Can't Dance Saala slips in its post-interval portions. The promise that it showed initially dries up in this hour. The goings-on, to put it bluntly, aren't bland, but get into the been-there-seen-that pattern.Pappu Can't Dance Saala is, at best, a regular fare. It could've been far more appealing and engaging had it not fallen prey to mediocrity in its second hour.
However, despite the blemishes, there's no denying that Pawan has handled a couple of poignant moments well. The twist in the tale and the confrontation between the lead pair in the middle of the film is super. Also, the transformation in Sunny's character -- how he gradually realizes the importance of a relationship -- is prudently dealt with. Jo Hum Chahein is a decent watch that will require a strong word of mouth to leave a mark.
Notwithstanding the shaky script, Maqbool Khan has handled a number of sequences with competency. A few dramatic moments, especially the tension-filled ones, have been handled skillfully. Note the sequence at the brothel. It's brilliant! Lanka has some shining moments, but they are few and far between.
